Add essential oils when it&#8217;s the right consistency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or this softer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humblebeeandme.com\/cedar-smoke-beard-balm\/\">beard balm<\/a> (20% beeswax):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>5g beeswax<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4g shea butter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>16g oils (could be replaced with grapeseed, sunflower)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>11 drops of essential oil<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Even a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humblebeeandme.com\/conditioning-beard-balm\/\">conditioning beard balm<\/a> (8-15% beeswax):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>6g BTMS-50 &#8211; also helps against build up (could replace with BTMS-25)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2-4g beeswax<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>5g mango butter &#8211; could replace with shea but greasier<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>12g oils (could be replaced with grapeseed, sunflower?)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vitamin E<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And an even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humblebeeandme.com\/midwinter-conditioning-beard-balm\/\">lighter<\/a> conditioning formulation (6% beeswax):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>3g BTMS-25<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>0.9g beeswax<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3g coconut oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>8g oils (jojoba, argan, ..)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vitamin E<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humblebeeandme.com\/a-quick-guide-to-beeswax-liquid-oil-ratios\/\">this guide<\/a> is great for checking the effect of different percentages of beeswax. Basically:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>50%: hard &amp; sticky, doesn&#8217;t melt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>33%: firm &amp; not really sticky, melts slowly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>25%: soft &amp; not sticky, melts averagely<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>20%: not solid, melts averagely<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>17%: not solid, melts quickly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>13%: not solid, melts very quickly<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>BTMS and any butters also affect the consistency. BTMS-25 is a more potent hardener than BTMS-50. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humblebeeandme.com\/a-guide-to-carrier-oil-substitutions\/\">butters<\/a> from soft to hard: coconut, mango, shea, cacao &#8211; this matters less at >10% wax. Of these, mango is the least greasy.
